Samsung is enabling the ECG (electrocardiogram) function for the Galaxy Watch 4 series in more markets. The company announced today that Watch 4 customers in Taiwan will start using ECG sensors in late November.
Samsung plans to enable ECG sensors on the Galaxy Watch 4 series through a software update scheduled to be launched in Taiwan later this month. Once the ECG function is enabled, Galaxy Watch 4 users can monitor their heart rate and detect signs of atrial fibrillation directly through the wrist-worn device.
The ECG sensor of the Galaxy Watch 4 series has not been enabled in every market. Wearable devices need to go through different approval processes before providing ECG functions, and these approvals can be obtained faster in some markets than in others. It is difficult to predict where ECG will go live in the next step, but as usual, we will notify you in time.
As the ECG is coming, Samsung expects more people in Taiwan to join the Galaxy Watch 4 trend, and the company has prepared new incentives to increase the value of trade-in.
Customers who purchased Galaxy Watch 4 at Samsung Smart Hall or Samsung Mall before December 31 can choose to exchange for other devices in exchange for a bonus of NT$2,000 at the original price.
Samsung currently sells smaller Bluetooth-only Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic variants online in Taiwan for NT$8,990 (US$323) and NT$11,990 (US$427), but the price may be higher, depending on the size And connection options. The company also sells the Galaxy Watch 4 Maison Kitsuné Edition for NT$11,990 (US$427).
