Google's Pixel Watch is highly-anticipated, and ahead of its launch, details of its price have surfaced, and it isn't as cheap as some of its rivals.

Google will announce the Pixel Watch, its first smartwatch powered by Wear OS, this year; and now, new details have revealed how much it could retail for. Google-owned Fitbit recently announced a handful of new wearables: the Sense 2 and Versa 4. While Google plans a Fitbit device running Wear OS, these new watches run Fitbit OS.

The two smartwatches offer a handful of health tracking features such as heart rate monitoring, blood oxygen level measurement, and stress tracking. The more expensive Sense 2 also has ECG measurement, a temperature sensor, and a sensor for advanced tracking stress.

The Pixel Watch will run Wear OS out of the box, but it should be a different interface from what is available on the Galaxy Watch 5 series. The smartwatch will also be available in one size with the option to choose between Bluetooth/Wi-Fi or LTE versions. Regarding how much it will cost, 9to5Google reports that an unnamed source has disclosed that the Pixel Watch's LTE variant will retail for $399 in the U.S. Of course, this means that the Bluetooth/Wi-Fi version will sell for less, but the difference is unknown.

At $399, the Pixel Watch is more expensive than the Galaxy Watch 5, which starts at $279 for the 40mm non-LTE version and goes up to $329 for the LTE version. It even costs more than the 44mm version, which is $309 for the Bluetooth/Wi-Fi version and $359 for the LTE version. Furthermore, at this reported price, Google's smartwatch will cost more than the new Fitbit Versa 4 and Sense 2, priced at $229.5 and $299.95, respectively.

With this pricing, those who can't afford the Pixel Watch will be able to pick up either Samsung's own smartwatches as a WearOS alternative or the new Fitbit models as alternative health trackers from Google. Despite the high price tag, there is a possibility that interested buyers will be able to grab the Pixel Watch at a lower price from carrier deals or even Google's own deals. Google products often get discounted occasionally, and the Pixel Watch shouldn't be an exception.

Other details of the Pixel Watch are that it will be powered by an Exynos 9110 processor, as much as 2GB of RAM, and up to 32GB of storage which is double what Samsung offers on its smartwatches. However, its rumored 300mAh battery capacity may see it only last a day on a single charge. While Google will offer only one size option, an earlier report says buyers will have several band options to choose from. The Pixel Watch is expected to launch alongside the Pixel 7 series in Q4 2022.
