After obtaining government approval, the excellent ECG function of Apple Watch is one step closer to launching in Australia. It was only one month after the irregular heart rhythm notification for the device was approved in Australia.

It is not clear when Apple will provide this feature to Apple Watch users.

It has been more than a year since Apple introduced the Apple Watch Series 4-this is the first model with a built-in ECG. Although many countries/regions quickly accepted this feature, other countries/regions have been slow to applaud it.

Australia finally approved it, which means it will take a long time for Apple Watch users to have an ECG check anytime, anywhere-as long as they have compatible devices.

A regulatory document seen by The 8-Bit for the first time confirmed that the Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) has approved the Apple Watch’s ECG in accordance with its "Medical Device Class IIa" regulations.

This gave Apple the green light, which requires activation of the ECG function and irregular heart rhythm notifications for Apple Watch users in Australia. However, we do not yet know when it will happen.

If Apple has time to make the necessary changes before the public release this spring, the upcoming watchOS 7.4 update may activate the update, which is already in beta testing.

The ECG function provided in Apple Watch Series 4 and Series 5 devices allows users to understand their heart rhythm in more detail. It can detect signs of atrial fibrillation (AFib), but it will not detect a heart attack.
